I’d like to tile the front arch (and partial closure of my oven, but one question - do I need to insulate it all all before I stucco or tile it? I will use high temp mortar, but the rest of the oven is getting a ceramic blanket. Am I fine with the stucco or tile right on the front firebricks?
No. If you build according to directions, you will be adding stucco over the bricks at the very front of the arch rather than over insulation. You can leave the brick ends open and then add a finish to them as you choose. If you close the front of the oven you don’t need insulation between those bricks and your finish.
