My vision started in March of 2021. First was an outdoor fireplace for our private camp of 25 acres. Then my vision expanded to include a Mattone Barile. Never worked in the masonry field and just jumped in. Many hours of videos and reads. First discovered Backyard flare and they recommended Brickwood ovens. My plan was to merge the two plans. June 13th was the start date with a backhoe digging a hole so I could set 10 sono tubes below the frost line. Every weekend I had off would be at the property laying block.
On October 22 I finally fired the oven hot enough to make some test pizza;s from the local market.
Starting next year this project will go to the next level as I wrap the entire structure with natural white quartzite rock from the property. My wife has been collecting the rock and piling them in front of the structure so we could get the feel of finished fireplac/oven in late summer 2022.
