Open Front Pizza Oven vs. Closed Front Pizza Oven

Are there any benefits of having an open vs. closed front? Will the closed front retain more heat? Would the door need to be cut to spec?

Hi Demond,

There are definitely benefits to each design.

OPEN

  • Maximum access to the oven
  • Maximum oxygen supply
  • Maximum circulation

CLOSED

  • Blocks majority of exhaust from exiting through opening
  • Improves heat retention
  • Improves convective circulation

The door does not need to be cut to spec for a closed front. It is designed to stand flat against the opening on an open front, which means it will also do its job on a smaller opening. If your oven is already built, you have installed a gasket, and then decide to close off the oven, you may need to replace the gasket, but even that’s not a requirement.
